Valencia Biography
Valencia is a contemporary painter, who lives and works in Roma, Italy . A native of Columbia, her colorful paintings pay homage to her homeland. Her distinctive personal style emanates a wide range of emotions from introspection to peace and joy and expresses the vibrant spirit and atmosphere of the Latin American culture.
Having grown up in a country with both a great multi-ethnic wealth and surrounded by extensive biodiversity have inspired her narrative. She has dedicated her life and art to inequalities, sociopolitical injustice; faces of indigenous, African American women, picturesque landscapes of the rainforest, the global warming are brought to life with contrasting and harmonious colors. As the artist explains: “ Art is a means of transforming the harsh reality of our society”. In addition, she has given numerous workshops on women’s empowerment and equality.
She studied “Artes Plasticas” in the “Instituto de Bellas Artes” in Columbia, she is also pursuing a Master’s Degree in Intercultural and Intereligious Mediation.
Valencia’s artwork has been shown in exhibitions in the Museum of the Americas MoA in Miami U.S., including “Calido y Frio” and a large number of exhibitions in many European countries. ( Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Italy)
She also actively collaborates with an NGO in her country, engaged in planting native trees, She design and draw postcards that show endangered species; the sale of these postcards is intended for preservation and conservation programs.
